Lessons Learned in NFL's Week 14...

By Scott Burks
Here are my thoughts on Week 14 in
the NFL...
My Pittsburgh Steelers need to clean house at
the end of the season.
Here's the deal: whenever a Super Bowl champion returns 20 of 22 starters
the following year and drop 5 games in a row after starting the season at
6-2, you have to blame the coaching. Why our offensive coordinator
(Bruce Arians) still has a job is beyond me. He decided not to run the
ball against the 32-ranked defense in Cleveland despite having Rashard
Mendenhall toting the rock! And how does that offensive line allow
EIGHT SACKS to the Browns?! I can attribute that to the offensive line
coach. And finally, the special teams have not been all that special
this year. They have allowed other teams to run back five kickoffs for
touchdowns this season.
I feel that we are in good hands with head
coach Mike Tomlin, but he better cut some ties before his head is on the
chopping block. There is such a thing of being loyal to a fault...
Randy Moss DID quit in the Panthers-Patriots
game.
I watched most of that game while I was putting some baby toys together, and
I kept asking myself the question "where is Randy Moss?". I mean, it
was good for me because Wes Welker is on my fantasy team and he gave me a
lot of points.
Seriously, this is a potential problem for the
Patriots locker room. And it comes on the heels of coach Bill
Bellicheat sending Moss and 3 other players home early last week for being
late for a team meeting (which I agreed with). Moss has a history of
playing when he wants to play. I just think that Moss is
hypersensitive and if he comes out flat next week in Buffalo, look the hell
out...
The Miami Dolphins will make the playoffs.
Miami is a well-coached team. They have a winnable road game in
Tennessee, followed by two VERY winnable home games against Houston and
Pittsburgh. If the Dolphins do not run the table, then shame on them.
Just think if the Dolphins did not start the season 0-3...
So much for
the Cowboys winning in December. The Cowboys are not making it
easier for me. I actually put myself out there, thinking that Dallas
will turn things around to make this a December to remember. Dallas is
a lot better than this (I cannot believe I typed that statement). Too
bad for QB Tony Romo, because it is not his fault. He passed for 249
yards and 2 TDs in the loss to San Diego. What's the deal Cowboys
fans? This December thing is really in the players' heads...
The Arizona
Cardinals are hard to figure out. The Cardinals beat down the
Minnesota Vikings last week, only to get their asses kicked in San Francisco
last night. Arizona turned the ball over SEVEN times in the process.
Go figure...
