"Little E" Is on His Way Back

By Scott Burks
Dale Earnhardt,
Jr. finished a close 2nd in the Daytona 500 Sunday night. While he
didn't win NASCAR's Super Bowl, Junior had taken a big step to right the
wrong that was the 2009 Sprint Cup season.
Those who know me
best know Junior is my favorite driver (yes, black dudes like NASCAR too).
It pained me to see him perform so horribly last season, finishing 25th in
the Sprint Cup standings. In fact, aside from the 2001 (8th place
finish), 2003 (3rd place finish), 2004 and 2006 (5th place finishes in both
seasons) seasons, Junior had pretty much underachieved for most of his
career.
He changed his
strategy and pit crews in the off-season, and it looks like it may pay off.
Look, I know
Junior historically does well in Daytona. However, a second place
finish in the first major race of the Sprint Cup season is nothing to sniff
at.
