Brand New Day, Same 'Ol Tiger

By Scott Burks

So Tiger Woods is giving a lecture -- errrr, I mean "press conference" -- tomorrow at 11 AM in front of his home boys, family members, and hand picked media hacks.  He won't even take ANY questions.  And worst of all, his "press conference" will be carried by all three major networks and the mother of all enablers ESPN.

This is as pathetic as it is hilarious.  Why Woods chose to go through the trouble to stage this farce is beyond me.  All he had to do is stick to posting a quote or two on his website.  It's funny that the ultimate control freak life is so out of control, he'll do anything to get any  control back.

The fact that he won't be challenged with answering questions is chicken shit.  The fact that he is going out of his way to control even that aspect shows that he will go into "control freak overload".

The ironic thing is that Woods didn't have to resort to this because, frankly, he doesn't owe us ANYTHING.  The only people he should apologize to is his family -- his wife, kids, mother, and in-laws -- for embarrassing them with his indiscretions.  He does not owe the fans, you, or me any apology.

Here's the deal.  Woods got exposed for the fraud he is.  He is not the wholesome, morals-having family man.  He is the typical great athlete who knows his sport and the media needs him more than he needs them -- and acts like it.

Hell, he hasn't changed for the better as far humility is concerned.  He showed his ass when he scheduled his "press conference" the same weekend the Accenture Match Play is going (Ernie Els was right when he called Woods "selfish").  Keep in mind that Accenture was the first sponsor who dropped Woods as a pitchman after his indiscretions came to light.  This is Woods way of telling Accenture "my time on TV will bring more attention than your sorry-ass tournament".

Look to see the same 'ol Tiger from this point forward -- only with more arrogance, and boorish behavior towards fans on the golf course.  As the saying goes, "a leopard does not change his spots"...
