Shanahan Will Be a Good Fit in Washington

By Scott Burks
The Washington
Redskins may get it right this time.
As long as owner
Danny Boy Snyder stay out of the way, the Redskins will be successful sooner
rather than later.
Former Denver
Broncos coach Mike Shanahan and his agent are in contract talks that would
make him the new coach in Washington. This should be music to the ears
of long-suffering Redskins fans everywhere.
This is be a good
fit on several levels. First, Shanahan is "boys" with new Redskins GM
Bruce Allen, who is the son of the late former Redskins coach (and one of my
dad's all-time favorite guys) George Allen. Shanahan is also beloved
by Snyder and the owner had his eyes on Shanahan since last off-season.
Shanahan is also
a proven winner, owner of two Super Bowl rings with the Broncos in the late
1990s and has worked well with QBs. That would be welcome change for
incumbent starter Jason Campbell and backup Colt Brennan. RB Clinton
Portis should be dancing a jig buck-naked right now.
Of course, this
would be all for naught if Danny Boy cannot help himself
and pisses away what could AND should be a good thing.
