Kiffin.
What's with this
guy that makes folks want to hire him? How in the hell does he go from
NFL coach to land TWO plush college coaching jobs in TWO years? I
mean, dude's aggregate coaching record is 12-21, and he still manage to land
a posh coaching gig at USC after just ONE year in Tennessee!
I must admit, I
like Kiffin. I like the trash he talked when he became the Volunteers
head coach last year. He was not afraid of the alpha male coaches of
the SEC -- especially Florida coach Urban Meyer. Judging from the
aftermath of his team's performance against Florida, I still believe that
Kiffin was in Meyer's head.
I just think, as
much as I like Kiffin, that he and other coaches need to pay their dues
before being allowed to move on to the next big thing. I mean this cat
was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple!
As for USC, what
says "outstanding hire" than to bring in a guy who has a spotting record in
terms of violations after making efforts to clean up its OWN HOUSE? It
would be a miracle if USC does not get hammered by the NCAA.
As for Tennessee,
God bless them. Despite looking like a jilted bride, the Tennessee job
is still one of the best in the country. After all, it did win a
national championship in the last 15 years. Hopefully the new coach,
whatever his name is, will steer them in the right direction.
I tell you what,
since Kiffin's been able to find work in high places, why not have him
predict lottery numbers. He has always manage to strike gold, so might
as well use his ass as a good-luck charm...
