2009-2010 NBA Preview

By Scott Burks
The 2009 NBA season is upon us. I am
hoping against hope that somehow my New York Knicks will be competitive and
AT LEAST get back to the NBA playoffs. Well, ...maybe not. Maybe
that'll change when LeBron James signs with them next season (did I say that
out loud?).
At any rate, here is how I think the NBA will
shape up this season...
* -- denotes playoff teams
Eastern Conference
Atlantic Division
1) Boston Celtics*
2) Philadelphia 76ers*
3) New York Knicks (hell, I'd do cartwheels if they finish this high)
4) Toronto Raptors
5) New Jersey Nets
Central Division
1) Cleveland Cavaliers* (this will be the last
year for LeBron in Cleveland)
2) Detroit Pistons*
3) Chicago Bulls*
4) Indiana Pacers
5) Milwaukee Bucks
Southeast Division
1) Orlando Magic*
2) Atlanta Hawks*
3) Charlotte Bobcats* (this is the year the Bobcats make the playoffs)
4) Miami Heat (look for Dwyane Wade to want out this season)
5) Washington Wizards
Eastern Conference Champion: Celtics
(Kevin Garnett and Co. are on a mission)
Western Conference
Southwest Division
1) San Antonio Spurs*
2) Dallas Mavericks*
3) New Orleans Hornets*
4) Houston Rockets (no Yao Ming = not many wins in 2009)
5) Memphis Grizzlies
Northwest Division
1) Denver Nuggets*
2) Portland Trailblazers*
3) Utah Jazz*
4) Minnesota Timberwolves
5) Oklahoma City Thunder (the artists formerly known as the Seattle
SuperSonics)
Pacific Division
1) Los Angeles Lakers* (yeah, that was a hard
pick...)
2) Phoenix Suns*
3) Golden State Warriors
4) Los Angeles Clippers
5) Sacramento Kings
Western Conference Champion: Spurs
(while the Spurs will be on a mission, look for Ron Artest to ruin the
Lakers' chemistry)
NBA Finals Champions:
Celtics (it hurts me to type this, but I do not see ANYONE forcing the
Celtics to abort their mission)
