Lessons Learned in NFL's Week 6...

By Scott Burks
Here are my thoughts on Week 6 in
the NFL...
The New Orleans Saints are the team to beat in
the NFC. That beatdown
the Saints laid on the New York Giants sent the following message to the
rest of the NFC: we are the best team in the conference. Period.
That game was more lopsided than the 48-27 final score. Saints QB Drew
Brees had a field day in lighting up the Giants' D with big play after big
play. I honestly do not see ANYONE in the NFC matching up to the
Saints, especially in the Superdome.
The Baltimore Ravens are no longer a
defensive team.
It's surprising to see the Ravens' defense getting pushed around this
season. Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings marked the 4th time in
6 games where the Ravens allowed more than 25 points! To
make matters worse, the Ravens' secondary is just plain bad. The more
pressure the Ravens have to bring, the more susceptible their secondary is
to big plays. So much for former defensive Rex Ryan not being missed.
The Pittsburgh
Steelers are officially a passing team.
This is definitely not your father's Steelers. My Steelers are passing
far more than they are running it -- and they are successful in doing
so. Big Ben Roethlisberger is a stud. The Steelers' WR corps is
tight, and TE Heath Miller is quietly becoming one of the best tight ends in
the league. While RB Rashard Mendenhall is quietly becoming a stud,
this is Big Ben's offense.
It's time for the Tennessee Titans to give Vince Young a
look (Take 3).
I said last week that the Titans were not
likely to make the playoffs. This just in: the Titans WILL NOT return to the
playoffs. They are 0-6, and got their asses kicked by the Patriots.
I mean, 59-0?!!! Is this the NFL or college football? Hey Jeff
Fisher: start Vince Young at QB. Your season is already over, your
team sucks, and you might as well see what you have in Young. Speaking
of the Patriots...
The New England Patriots did not run up the
score on the Titans. Last I checked, this is the NFL, where dudes
are getting paid to do their job. If the Titans didn't like the
Patriots scoring almost 60 points, they should do THEIR JOB and stop the
Patriots. This is not college football, so stop the whining.
So much for the Denver Broncos being
overrated.
I think it's FINALLY time for me to give the Broncos their props. They
are a legit 6-0. Hell, the way the Broncos beat down the Chargers in
San Diego last night, it will not surprise me to see the Broncos run away
with the AFC West division. If Broncos coach Josh McDaniels hasn't
told anyone "I told you so", he should. By the way, so much for
McDaniels being in over his head...
