World Series Preview...

By Scott Burks
The World Series is finally upon us. As
a Yankee fan, I am footloose and fancy-free over seeing my team return to
the Fall Classic (SIX long years, man). At any rate, here are my
thoughts on what should be a good World Series...
New York Yankees vs. Philadelphia Phillies.
While most people would have loved to see the Dodgers vs. Yankees (Joe Torre
vs. his old squad), this should be a classic. The defending champion
Phillies has the best batting lineup in all of baseball, while the Yankees
have a scary batting lineup of their own. I think this series will
come down to the bullpens. The Phillies bullpen is their weakest link,
since closer Brad Lidge has been a bit shaky down the stretch. Yankees
closer Mariano Rivera is the best closer in the game, and if he takes the
mound with a lead, it's usually "lights out" for the opponent.
In closing, look for both teams to score a lot
of runs during series. Given the strength of the Yankees' bullpen and
the weakness of the Phillies' bullpen, it will be hard for the Phillies to
defend their World Series title... Yankees in 7.
