Phat or Foul: the Oregon Riots Edition By Scott Burks
Oregon looked bad in so many ways Thursday
night. It got beaten down to a pulp by Boise State. It happened
in front of a nationally televised audience (ESPN). If those weren't
bad enough, their "thug 4 life" RB LeGarrette (what kind of first name is
that?) Blount sucker punched a Boise State player who was talking smack to
him.
Now granted, that
kid from Boise State (Byron Hout) should have kept his mouth shut and
enjoyed the win. Keep in mind that Blount was walking off the field
before that happened. Good for Boise State coach Chris Patterson for
getting in Hout's grill about that -- before the sucker punch. After
all, it takes two to tangle.
Nevertheless, Blount should have kept his head
and kept it moving. One thing to sucker punch an opposing player, but
it's another to attack YOUR TEAMMATES and threatening to go into the crowd!
The suspension of Blount was justified. He should consider himself
lucky if Boise State does not pursue assault charges against him.
