Last Minute
Thoughts for NFL's Week 1...

By Scott Burks
I am so stoked about the 2009 NFL season
starting this weekend, I had to get in a few more thoughts before tonight's
opener. So, without further ado (again)...
Richard Seymour Trade. It's safe
to say that Seymour is not happy with being traded to the Oakland Raiders.
Hell, it's Thursday and he still had not reported to the Raiders. I
must say, it has to suck going from one of the best franchises in the NFL to
the worst.
The good news is, Seymour can void the trade
if he doesn't report to the Raiders. The only problem is, Seymour is
in the last year of his deal, meaning he will cripple his leverage if he
doesn't play this year. So here's my advice to Seymour: while I feel
your pain, you have to be a professional by showing up and balling your ass
off.
Cleveland Browns QB Debacle.
There is a saying that if you have two quarterbacks, you really do not have
one. It couldn't be further from the truth in the Browns' case.
The fact that head coach Eric Mangini withheld his decision for this long is
laughable. I mean, did he honestly think that he had a competitive
advantage on the Minnesota Vikings for this week's game? Brady Quinn
and Derek Anderson are essentially the same type of QB.
Looks like Mangini did not learn a damn thing
from his failed stint with the New York Jets. He may be on his way to
another failed one in Cleveland. This reminds me of another saying:
"he who does not learn from history is doomed to repeat it".
Shawne Merriman-Tila Tequila Drama.
While this is shaping to be a "he said, she said" type of deal, will someone
put an end to that skank's 15 minutes of fame? I mean damn Shawne,
couldn't you pull better chicks than her?
