Lessons Learned in College Football's Week 2...

By Scott Burks
Here are my thoughts on an exciting Week 2 in
college football...
The win over Notre Dame is HUGE for Michigan's
coach Rich Rodriguez.
Talk about a win to get the monkey off your back (temporarily)! This
was a huge win for Rich-Rod in reviving Michigan's football program.
Nothing beats a win over your rival, and beating Notre Dame had to improve
Rich-Rod's standing with university officials. As for Notre Dame...
What in the hell was ND coach Charlie Weis
thinking? Let me get this straight: the Irish had a slim lead less
than two minutes to go in the game, and instead of running out the clock and
having Michigan burn timeouts, Notre Dame had TWO STRAIGHT INCOMPLETE
PASSES. Could we please stop with the "Charlie Weis will turn ND
around" talk? Weis is no genius, rather an arrogant tub of lard who
stuck around two years too long.
USC is
officially the team to beat this season. Man, was that a huge win
over Ohio State on the road or what? That true freshman Matt Barkley
came of age a bit Saturday night in leading USC on that game-winning drive
late. He was not rattled, and we may have a star in the making.
Speaking of Ohio State...
Ohio State is STILL not ready for Prime
Time. This really sucks for Ohio State. The earned a defeat
that was snatched from the jaws of victory. This is a bad omen for the
Buckeyes -- that it does not show up for big games. Where coach Jim
Tressel and the gang goes from here I have no idea.
Oklahoma State may be the most overrated
team in college football. How in the hell does a team go from
beating a terrific SEC team in Georgia to losing to a sorry-ass patsy in
Houston at home? I guess State's coach Mike Gundy has
another
thing to rant about.
