End of the Year Golf Thoughts for 2009...

By Scott Burks
As the 2009 men's golf season comes to a
close, here are my few parting shots...
Phil Mickelson's win on Sunday was a good way
to end golf's season.
This has been a rather forgettable year for Mickelson. His wife was
diagnosed with cancer. He missed time to be with his family to support
his wife when she needed him the most. For him to come from behind to
win the Tour Championship was awesome. It was nice to see Mickelson go
out on such a high note after a trying season. Mickelson's family will
still be in our prayers.
I do not care how many wins he had this year,
Tiger Woods's season was a failure.
Woods cares about only one thing: winning majors. Last time I checked,
Woods did not win ANY majors this season. And it's not as much as him
not winning as it was in HOW he played in those majors. He missed the
cut in one (the British Open), and choked away a lead in another (the U.S.
Open) to an obscure golfer. Sure Woods won several other tournaments
this season, but NO MAJORS. Therefore, by his standards, this year is
considered a failure for Woods. He'll be back next year...
Can anyone
explain to me how the FedEx Cup scoring system works?
I honestly have no idea how this system works. Sure Woods won the
FedEx Cup, but he didn't win any majors. What the hell???
